New Membership Applications
Membership of Canvey Island U3A is open to anyone who is retired or semi-retired from full time work. If you are considering applying for membership, in keeping with our Constitution we have a catchment area of ‘Canvey Island and its surrounding locality’, which we define as Canvey Island and the Castle Point Council area. Should you be outside of the Castle Point catchment area it would be a better option for you to apply to your nearest U3A.
Enquiries regarding membership of Canvey Island U3A should be made to our Membership Secretary .
IMPORTANT
Membership of Canvey Island U3A does not entitle you to join another U3A's interest groups or meetings, unless you are a member of that U3A or the other U3A's rules allow this.
To participate in any of our interest groups or any outing/event, you are required to be a fully paid up member of Canvey Island U3A. The only exception being when a coach trip is organised by the Events Organiser, or a Group Liaison and there are seats remaining on that coach. After being offered to all of our members, any spare seats can then be offered to members of other Local U3A's. Due to the terms of our insurance cover, it is not possible to include Friends and Family on Trips.
MEMBERS PERSONAL DETAILS
It is most important that we have your correct contact details, including an email address if you use email. Now that we have our Beacon membership management system, we will be relying on it's email facility to contact you concerning all U3A matters. Being the most cost effective method of contacting you, we will only use email if you have provided an email address. (Most of us have a Smartphone in our pocket or bag these days and it's quite simple to set it up to monitor your emails with it.)
However, it is important that you do not give us an email address that you do not use.
If you don't use or regularly monitor your emails then please don't include your email address on your membership application, as it will be of no use to us or you.
